Inspired by the Bacopa Monnieri plant, an adaptation of the chemical derived from the medicinal plant has been used to replicate a richly-embroidered spinal structure. The silk fabric has been enriched in the natural pigment of Red Cabbage in a slow natural dye process to achieve a subtle, mauve pink.

The collection features meaningful pieces; all designs include imagery of medicinal plants and chemical structures that can help Dementia suffers. Therefore, the placement of the design on the back conveys the narrative of the medicinal properties travelling up the spinal cord to heal the brain.

 

The combination of goldwork loops, hand-beading, laser-cutting, applique, digital Wilcom embroidery and Irish embroidery have been precisely assembled to create the embroidered spinal structure.
